Instructions

Installing a theme on a BlackBerry is actually very simple and can be done two ways: 1) Direct install to your device using what’s called OTA, or Over-The-Air installation, or 2) Downloading a file to your computer and using either the BlackBerry Desktop Manager tool (Windows PC) or PocketMac v4 for BlackBerry (Mac OS X) to install it with the device connected to the computer. Please note, however, that in all cases your BlackBerry needs to have System Software 4.1 or higher to use the themes available from FreeBBThmes.com. You can find this from the Options > About menu on your device.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Download your favorite theme as a ZIP file, and extract it to your hard drive.
2. You will need to have either the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software installed (Windows PC, came with the device), or PocketMac v4 for BlackBerry (Mac OS X) available from RIM at http://www.blackberry.com/support/downloads/index.shtml. Please refer to the instructions that came with the BlackBerry to install and connect the device.
3. Connect your BlackBerry and launch the Application Loader and select the Add option. Navigate to the files you extracted from the ZIP file and select the file with the theme name and .alx file extension. Follow the instructions from the software application to complete the process.
3a. If you’re using PocketMac for the Mac, select Utilities > Install Software to Device and navigate to the files you extracted, and select the file with the .alx file extension.
4. The BlackBerry will reboot when done and you’ll need to use the Options/Theme menu to select and activate the new theme.
